WHAT IS CEREBRO?
Cerebro is a tool that does a reverse search on any ASIN to find it’s keywords.
An ASIN is the Amazon Standard Identification Number. Kind of like how every book has a unique ISBN, every product on the Amazon marketplace has its own ASIN.
Cerebro uses the ASIN to discover keywords that have been used for that product and gives you a list of keywords along with their search volume and competition.
With a free Helium 10 account, you get two free searches a day on Cerebro. That’s plenty to give you tons of keyword ideas!
HOW TO USE CEREBRO TO FIND THE BEST KEYWORDS FOR AMAZON KDP
Cerebro is able to search any ASIN on the Amazon marketplace and generate keywords for it. In order to use this to your advantage, you will want to find a book that has a high Best Sellers Rank on Amazon and is similar to the product you want to create, or have already created.
A best seller rank, or BSR, is a rank that Amazon gives its products based on how well it sells. The closer to zero the better. A good rule of thumb to go by is anything under 100,000 is usually making at least one sale a day. You can also use this free calculator on kindlepreneur.com here to see how often a book is selling. (It’s not 100% accurate, but will give you a good estimation.)
Once you’ve selected a book with a good BSR you simply copy that books ASIN and paste it into Cerebro and hit search. If you are using the free version you will get 50 keyword results. Along with its search volume and competition.
When looking for keywords to use, try to look for keywords that have a high search volume and low competition. You want keywords with a high Cerebro IQ Score.
Some things to consider: use your own judgment and common sense when looking at the IQ score and search volume. A keyword may have a high search volume but may not be completely relevant to low content books. Meaning, when people type it in the search bar, they aren’t looking for books. Don’t trust everything the tool says blindly, trust your gut.
PRICING
The Helium 10 subscription is a little on the pricey side. They offer 4 different pricing options.
Free – You are limited to the tools you can use and how often you can use them. You get 2 searches on Cerebro a day. Which is actually quite helpful!
A La Carte – Pay only for the services/tools you want. If you are only going to use Cerebro and want full access to it, Helium 10 has an option for you to subscribe to just the one service. It costs $37/month at the time of writing this article.
Platinum – $97/month If you want access to more of Helium 10’s features this is the best option for individuals.
Diamond – $197/month The Diamond upgrade is geared towards companies with multiple users.
IS HELIUM 10 WORTH IT?
Helium 10 is a pricey tool, but it has the potential to up your selling game immensely. While it costs a fair chunk of change for the Platinum and Diamond upgrades ($97 and $197 respectively) the A La Carte option is much more manageable, especially if you are only using one service.
IS CEREBRO HELIUM 10 WORTH IT?
If you are thinking of opting for the A La Carte upgrade that Helium 10 offers and just purchase a monthly subscription to their Cerebro tool you may find that it is well worth it. With the keyword information readily available at your fingertips and no upload limit to Amazon KDP, you are really only limited by how fast you can use your computer.
It may also be worth it to pay for one month and do as much keyword research as you possibly can while also documenting it, and canceling at the end of the month.
Hopefully, this has helped you to feel comfortable and confident in finding the best keywords for Amazon KDP low content books.
